Past Events: The first annual HALLOWEEN STORYTELLING FESTIVAL was held in Founders Park in Roswell on October 28, 2000. It was billed as a "Spooky, Fun-Filled Time" and it proved to be just that. A crowd of about 200 families gathered on the lawn amidst jack-o-lanterns. The stage was set for a spooky night just down from the Founders Cemetary.
Ron Kemp, dressed all in black as the grim reaper, was the master of ceremonies. He sat on the stage for 30 minutes before performance time and never made a move. The audience was convinced he was a prop. Just at dark, Myra Stainback opened the show with introductions. Ron slowly stood up and moved towards Myra. She and the audience screamed with delight.
The show began...............
Dressed in a witchlike costume with a hat and long stringy hair, Jo Sanders opened the show with a variety of stories for all ages. Jo cackled with fiendish glee as she greeted the audience and shared spooky tales. Her original version of a Connecticut legend, "The Legend Of The Wolfstone and The Giant", started things off with chills and thrills.

Kelly Sanders was chosen to help Bill Gribble with his story.
Josie Baily, an extrordinary storyteller and writer, gave her performance reading her original historical stories. Poignant stories of events from long ago. Josie believes there is nothing like a good story and is known for creating oral tapestries. She delighted the attentive audience with her mesmerizing stories for Halloween.
Bill Gribble acted out his renditions of Robert Service. His performance of "Poet of the Yukon" has endeared him to many audiences. A professional actor with numerous plays, movies, and television shows to his credit, Bill delights in entertaining audiences in a setting like Old Mill Park. Bill said he loves this type of performance because it was "just for fun".

The Third Annual Magnolia Festival drew large crowds from near and far and was as entertaining and exciting as expected. The two day festival, June 22-23, had a full schedule of storytelling and workshops. It took place under a big tent on the grounds of beautiful Historic Bulloch Hall in Roswell, Georgia.
Local professional storytellers Jo Sanders, Josie Bailey, Tersi Bendiburg, Curtis Richardson, Scott DePoy, Bill Gribble and John Beavin were featured performers and entertained listeners throughout the day. Ron Kemp was the Master of Ceremonies.
Open-mike time gave the audience a chance to put names in a hat and tell stories on stage.
The Featured headliners were international touring tellers, David Holt and Bill Mooney. David is a musician of renown and his storytelling combined with music and humor delighted the audiences of all ages.
Bill Mooney, a television and Broadway stage actor, has participated internationally at major storytelling events. His gift of storytelling blended well with the award winning David Holt. Both have earned Grammy Award Nominations for their storytelling tapes. David can be heard hosting the National Public Radio's Saturday night jazz program.
David Holt held a two hour workshop on True Life Storytelling. The State University of West Georgia Department of Continuing Education presented a series of workshops. SDU and CEU credits were available for workshop attendees.
